Oxygenated Water, Hydrogen Water, Electrolytes & Minerals — What’s the Difference?
Hydration is one of the most talked-about wellness topics and also one of the most misunderstood.
If you’re drinking plenty of water but still feel tired, foggy, flat, dizzy, or depleted, the issue often isn’t how much water you’re drinking. It’s how well your body is able to use it.
Over the years, I’ve layered different hydration tools into my routine to support energy, recovery, detoxification, stress resilience, and everyday living. These “tools” include: electrolytes, minerals, oxygenated water, and hydrogen water. Each serves a very different purpose in the body.
In this post, I’m breaking down the difference between:
Water alone isn’t always enough.
True hydration depends on whether your body can actually use it. That’s where minerals and electrolytes come in. They help your body absorb, hold onto, and use the water you’re drinking.
Not exactly, but they’re connected.
Minerals are essential nutrients from food and water. They support everything from hormone balance and nerve signaling to muscle function, detox pathways, and cellular health.
Electrolytes are certain minerals that become “active” when mixed with water. They carry an electrical charge that helps your body:
The primary electrolytes include:
Again, all electrolytes are minerals, but not all minerals act as electrolytes. Minerals support the systems that rely on hydration. Electrolytes help water actually get into cells and stay there.
If you’re drinking a lot of water but still feel tired, flat, “headachy,” lightheaded, or dizzy, it’s often a mineral or electrolyte issue. Not a water issue.
Modern life depletes minerals more quickly than most people realize through stress, exercise, sweating, caffeine, travel, medications, and even filtered water.
This is a question I commonly hear. And yes! You can absolutely take both minerals and electrolytes daily. They serve different purposes and actually work better together.
I take Quinton daily for broad, baseline mineral support. And I use TDW Electrolytes to support hydration at the cellular level.
Taking both is not “too much” – it’s foundational support, especially if you’re active, stressed, detoxing, traveling, sweating, or simply living a full life.
I formulated TDW Electrolytes to offer high-quality electrolyte supplementation without added sugar or natural flavors. TDW Electrolytes also have a different mineral ratio (more magnesium and less sodium) than many other popular electrolyte brands to reflect the modern day needs of most of the population.
TDW Electrolytes are best when used daily for:
They’re clean, simple, and designed for everyday use, not just for athletes or intense workouts.
Quinton minerals (which can be purchased on Fullscript) are my broad mineral supplement of choice for their highly bioavailable mineral profile. Quinton minerals are a cold-microfiltered, 100% natural, raw seawater solution that closely matches the mineral composition of human blood plasma.
Quinton minerals (via Fullscript) are best when taken daily for:
Once your foundation is in place (water + electrolytes + minerals), that’s when I’d recommend layering in more targeted tools like oxygenated water and hydrogen water. Both are very different and can be great ways to level up your water depending on your body’s needs.
Oxygenated water is infused with extra dissolved oxygen..
Oxygen is needed by every cell to produce ATP (energy), so the idea behind oxygenated water is to give your body accessible oxygen alongside hydration.I was honestly unsure at first about its legitimacy. But after drinking it consistently and checking my oxygen levels and heart rate with a pulse oximeter, I can verify it truly works. When I drink 1-2 a day, I can see changes in my blood. It actually looks like it’s being ozonated. Just an interesting observation and further proof (for me) that it works.
People who consistently drink oxygen water often notice the difference most in “everyday life” activities, whether they’re working, stressed, active, or traveling.
I use INHALE (use code TDW) superoxygenated water, and I call it my “Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy-in-a-can” drink.
This is one of those hydration upgrades you can feel relatively quickly.
Hydrogen water is enriched with molecular hydrogen (H₂), often using dissolvable tablets that release hydrogen gas into water when mixed.
Molecular hydrogen doesn’t fuel cells the same way oxygen does. Instead, it acts as a selective antioxidant, helping neutralize certain reactive molecules (like free radicals) that contribute to inflammation and stress.
I use the H2Tab as my hydrogen water of choice. The hydrogen molecules remain dissolved in the water, creating hydrogen-rich water with antioxidant potential.
Both work beautifully together. Oxygenated water supports energy and daily function, while hydrogen water offers deeper cellular and anti-inflammatory support.
Can I share my biggest piece of advice when it comes to hydration? Don’t overcomplicate it.
Get really good at the basics, and then layer in support.
Wondering how to fit it all in? It’s actually really easy. Here’s my simple routine:
*Option to double up on electrolytes on days where you’re traveling, doing sauna, or sweating a lot
Helping you get your gut right, improve energy, boost immunity, balance hormones, sleep better and look + feel your best
