Colostrum products have overtaken the health and wellness market recently, and they have a lot of proven benefits. But keep reading to find out why I actually reach for something else before colostrum and to learn more about its research-backed benefits.
How colostrum works…but there’s a catch!
Colostrum is the milky fluid a female mammal secretes after giving birth. It is especially prized for its high levels of antibodies – including Immunoglobulin G (IgG) – which are proteins that fight infections and bacteria. Antibodies, such as those that are highly concentrated in colostrum, may help improve immunity, fight germs, and promote gut health.
Bovine colostrum supplements have become popular recently for their health-promoting benefits. But here’s the catch…Colostrum is a dairy product. It is literally the “first milk” from the mammal. So, the widely popular colostrum supplements you see on the market today all contain dairy.
While there are some people who tolerate dairy well, I’ve seen thousands of patients over my years of practice to know that many adults do not tolerate dairy well. Whether it be a full-on allergy or simply a sensitivity, dairy is best avoided for a large population of people. And that includes colostrum and colostrum-based supplements. In fact, most people who have damaged or leaky guts are best off avoiding dairy products.
This leaves us with an important question:
Is it possible to get the benefits of colostrum without the dairy?
A non-dairy, IgG antibody supplement with proven benefits
Taylor Dukes Wellness GI Immune Support offers the benefits of your traditional colostrum products, only without the dairy, natural flavors, or other unnecessary fillers! It’s a dairy-free alternative to colostrum that is also naturally free of hormones and antibiotics, and it has an even greater concentration of IgG antibodies than colostrum products on the market! (Remember, the IgG antibodies are what help us not get sick. They protect the body against viral and bacterial pathogens and help decrease inflammation.)
GI Immune Support contains serum-derived bovine immunoglobulins. This means that the IgGs are sourced from plasma instead of colostrum, making it a completely dairy-free product. Plasma then undergoes a purification process to contain only proteins, mainly IgGs, which are then turned into a powder of high potency. IgG is the only ingredient in GI Immune Support.
Why GI Immune Support is superior to colostrum
Who should take GI Immune Support
Honestly, anyone would benefit from this dairy-free, powerful supplement! But, it is especially helpful for those with countless health concerns, such as:
Autoimmune diseases
Recurrent illness/weakened immune systems
Asthma
Allergies
Chronic inflammation
Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD)
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Leaky gut
Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) – bloating, gas, etc.
It is also great for pregnant or nursing moms and kids, too.
Research-backed benefits of TDW GI Immune Support
Let’s dive a little deeper into some of the benefits of GI Immune Support. The active ingredient in this product has been around for a long time, and there is plenty of research to back the benefits!
IgG’s toxin binding and elimination abilities help keep the immune system from becoming overactive. It essentially calms down inflammation within the gut and helps the gut “reset” immune tolerance.
Autoimmunity is an increasing issue in people worldwide. Recent research shows a connection between the gut barrier and autoimmunity – IgG’s binding capabilities improve the gut barrier function to where unwanted triggers for the immune system are removed.
Did you know 70-80% of your immune system lives in your gut? So this stronger barrier IgG creates to the external environment and unwanted immune system triggers, like stress, pollutants, chemicals, and toxins, can play an essential role in feeling your best.
Now that you’ve likely decided you could benefit from this incredibly powerful supplement, you might be wondering how to take it! GI Immune Support comes in powder form, and it’s best enjoyed in cold substances – just mix with a blender, frother, or shaker bottle. I don’t encourage adding it to hot beverages as this can minimize the benefits of IgG. Here are a few of my favorite ways to take mine:
Blending it into a smoothie
Frothing it into an iced matcha
Stirring it into yogurt
Adding to chia seed pudding
A note on kids
GI Immune Support is kid-friendly! Adding it to smoothies or applesauce is an easy way to give it to the kiddos. I personally give ¼ scoop to my 2 and 4 year olds a few times a week. I’m absolutely convinced it has improved their immunity since they started taking it!
I hope this deep dive helped you understand the difference between colostrum supplements with IgG and my GI Immune Support supplement. Whether you have known dairy allergies/sensitivities or not, I love that GI Immune Support has more IgGs per serving than leading colostrum supplements. This is a hero supplement if you’re looking to improve immunity, decrease inflammation, boost your gut health, or all of the above!
